Multilateral & Multibilateral Cooperation
The Italian Cooperation, promoting a joint partnership, has taken some steps to foster mutual accountability mechanisms for the results of development.
One of the best examples in this regard remains the Italian Technical Support Facility of the Italian-Egyptian Debt Conversion Program, supplemented by Italian and Egyptian experts, who have the task of assisting the Program Management Committee, ensuring the technical- Financial and project monitoring, institutional relations with the Ministry of International Cooperation and the other institutions concerned, the technical and economic evaluation of individual interventions.
Within this concept of “mutual accountability”, we have come up with a new mode of cooperation called Trilateral.
In the second half of 2011, following the resumption of the activities of the Regional Center of Alexandria for Health and Women’s Development, they were rediscussed and finalized with the African Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the African Technical Cooperation How to implement the Trilateral Cooperation Initiative Italy – Egypt – South Sudan “Safe Maternity. Initiative for the training of nurses and midwives in South – Sudan, “concerning the professional training of Sudanese midwives. Within the framework of the intervention, two training courses (one held from November 27 to December 15, 2011 and one from January 15 to February 2, 2012) were organized at the Center of Alexandria, addressing about 40 South Sudanese midwives and nurses.
The courses alternately complement theory of practical training, focusing on key issues such as prenatal and post-partum care, basic obstetrics, high risk pregnancy, HIV, Female genital mutilation and violence against women, as well as the quality of health care. Participants were given all the material on the topics discussed, which will be used for the training activities they will benefit when they return to the different areas of the country of origin and a certificate of attendance has been issued
